  1. I plan on going into a career of visual arts or something that has to do with art because it’s something that I love doing, I love working with art or doing art. I wouldn’t be able to go into a career that is involved with math because im not good at it at all. I believe one chooses their career on what they find most interesting to them.

  2. I am planning to go into case mgmt. or bereavement counseling. Both are for personal reasons. I would not want to an astronaut. Tight places are not my thing. I think you should find a career in something you are passionate about.

  3. For me I know that I want to pursue nursing because I want to help as many people in my life as I can and I also I like the environment of a hospital. There is also another reason but its a bit more personal but I have a goal and nursing will help me to achieve this and I would enjoy it as a career. I don’t think there is a career that I would say that I would never do or that I really don’t want to do it. No matter what I would be doing I would always find a way to enjoy what im doing. I choose my career because of something that I experienced in my life so I decided it that way. I think that I decided like that because I had a different view of what I wanted to do before I experienced the event and I change my view after that I mean I kept medicine in mind but I changed the area of medicine that I wanted to pursue.

  4. At this point I’m not really sure what path I’m going to take. I’m really interested in something in engineering or technology, but I’m also really interested in music, with it being one of my biggest hobbies. A career I wouldn’t pursue would be anything in the arts. Not to offend anyone who is pursuing an arts degree, but there isn’t a real high demand for photographers, painters, musicians, etc… I think selecting a career is always a struggle between what you want to do, and what you could actually lock down a job with. I’d love to be a professional musician, but the chances of me actually having steady income as a musician is slim.

  5. 1) The career that I am planning on pursuing is body work and mechanic, the reason why I’ve chosen this career because ever since I was little my dad worked on car and he use to tell me to help him out with the repairs on the cars. now I love to fix cars I love cars so why not do something I love to do already.
    2) I was trying to become a police officer but my mind wasn’t going because I have seen what happened to cops in Illinois.
    3) One goes by selecting a career by trying out jobs looking how other jobs are if you like it you will go for that career. other then that many people choose the career that they have chosen when they where little that’s how I choose mine

  6. I am currently six classes away from pursuing my Associates degree in Arts. I plan on transferring to a four year university ( hopefully DePaul) and I would like to become an elementary teacher. I have always wanted to be a teacher for as far back as I can remember. I also had really great teachers that inspired me to become a teacher. Some reasons why I want to become a teacher is because I want to give back to my community and teach children and their parents the importance of education. I do not want to pursue a career in anything that has to do with this ” basic math” that we are learning in Level up. Also since I am on the topic of ” basic math” this is not basic to me . My ideal of basic math is addition , subtraction, division, and multiplication not x+2y *x2**&&^& . I feel that I will not use this math in my future path of becoming a teacher. I will not be a math teacher so I will not need this information. But I guess I can use it to teach my children. When someone is choosing a job / career they should picture themselves doing this every year for the rest of their life and ask themselves will they be happy with that. Also they need to consider the pay for their financial future.

  7. My career I will be pursuing is going to be a united states airman in the airforce. I am unsure on the job I will choose but am looking into mechanics. Careers I would not pursue would be a teacher, for reasons I am unsure of. I think when people pick their career they either pick it for the money they will make or its something they actually enjoy. Like me I want to be in mechanics because I like working with my hands.

  8. I am pursuing on getting a nursing degree. I am planning on this because medicine has always gotten my attention. I think it’s something I would enjoy doing as a nurse on helping children and people as well .
One career I would definitely not major in is criminal justice, it never got my attention and it seems complicated so why do something I don’t like.
I think everyone goes by what they have interest in, and think they would enjoy it.

  9. The career I am planning on pursuing is to become a Pharmacist because I feel that will be a perfect fit for me. I love Science and I wanted to do something that is Science related. The career that I definitely do not want to pursue is nursing because I have little patience for people and it is kind of a dirty job for example, cleaning patients. That is something that I definitely do not have the guts to do. I think one goes about choosing a career by figuring out what their passion is.

  10. My career is becoming a gaming designer. Because, I like playing videogames so much that I want to pursue the dream to make one; but also knowing what to do, how to do and the concept art of the game of how it is made. I would want to get into music; I like listening to music and made me think of wanting to play in a band. And what wouldn’t become as a career is being a teacher because there’s too much to know and learn at the same time. By selecting a career, you can learn and manage time, money wise to see how much you get pay.

  11. The career that i am planning to pursue is a job to help people and to medically cure them. I want to make the world a difference and influence people, also to inspire them. In all my life I always was passionate about helping people. So therefore I am looking to be some kind of doctor or nurse to assist in a patients need. I had leaned towards a lot of careers but i just seemed to find the information i didn’t like. The career i wouldn’t pursue is a job that i have to sit in a office and do paper work, i find that to be very boring. What i think what one goes about their career is finding a job that pays well and what would make them happy and feel accomplish and to be set on this job that they wouldn’t want to switch to another career.

  14. I plan on pursuing to become an engineer because it has a variety of different choices that you can use in life. I would definitely not want to become a doctor because it would be to much work and I don’t like the subject science. one goes about selecting a career by seeing what you like and what subjects you can relate to.

  15. The career I want to pursue would be getting a degree on computer science. Why? Ever since I was younger, I liked to mess with computers and try to fix them on my own. I always find them interesting and the fact that over the years they can become better. It just makes me wonder what the future has in store for all the future tech. I really haven’t thought of something that I wouldn’t like to do, but if I had to choose it would be a lawyer. It’s too much too learn and arguing to the judge on who’s right and whatnot. I mean sure they make a good amount of money but it’s not for me. The way people would try to select their careers would be finding something they like to do when they are younger or get feedback on careers from people they might know and enjoy hearing what the other person has to say about the career.

  16. The career I want to pursue long term is a family law lawyer. However, to become a lawyer, you do not need to major in law. Therefore, I want to major in social work. I have always loved working with kids, so I would like a career being involved in children’s lives. The reason behind becoming a lawyer traces back to a movie called Losing Isiah. If I do not pursue either of those fields, I would be majoring in Education or English/Journalism. I know for a fact that I would not like to work in any field involving Sciences and most likely math included. I think one should select a path that one truly enjoys. One should chose a path that one enjoys. I say that because so much time is going to become dedicated into that. A person should use it’s time into something that brings pleasure to the person.

  17. The career i’d like to pursue is nursing. I want to go for nursing because Im a friendly person and I like helping people and I was always interested in something with the medical field. A career I would not want to pursue is a high rise welder because im very afraid of heights. One goes into selecting a career by whatever it is that interests that individual. I know for me I want a career that interests me, not something that has great pay.

  18. I’m planning to pursue Computer Science degree and be a Software Engineer. There are three main reasons why I want to be a Software Engineer. First and foremost, I have been tinkering with computers since the first time I was introduced to computer and I went on from computer to everything that related with tech. The prime examples would be game consoles, mobile phones. Secondly, it is one of the demanding jobs at the time being which attracts a lot of college freshmen and one of the most paid jobs at the moment too. Finally, that’s my dream job. If I happened to not pursuing that degree then it would be engineering.

I am definitely not going to pursue a degree in either nursing or doctor because of one solely reason “Time”. Personally I have never ever thought of pursuing either one of the careers mentioned above. In my opinion, they are not worth the time and effort. May be that just me because I do value my time.

Selecting a career, that’s one of the most difficult thing for people. I do believe you can go with the right one though with these 2 factors : one is either talent or potential, another one is job satisfaction. If you are good at it and that’s the job you have always dreamed of then you are set, because that’s the job for you.

  19. I’m going to go for small sales position in a bookstore or at a grocery store. Very lofty and ambitious I know. But my real job would be after hours where I work on my writing and my art. I’m not really looking to pursue a career based on my degree. I don’t really see myself being a doctor or a engineer while making the things I enjoy. I’m more so using college to explore my interests. Selecting a career can be based on what you enjoy but it can also be based on what you’re good at. Those two aren’t always related but if you can find a job that has both and doesn’t go stale, you’ve found your job.

  20. In regards to the career I intend to pursue, I think about it constantly, but have yet to come up with one set in stone answer. I enjoy being of help to all people and aiding the general good; however, my mind is not made up as to what specific career would suit me best. Thus far, all I can say is that one career or job I won’t pursue again would be the insurance business. My reasoning for this is simple, from prior experience with State Farm I can say that insurance companies make a killing off of cheating other people. Yes, they do make extreme amounts of money, but attaining wealth isn’t worth the immoral approach of screwing over mislead people. Insurance companies deal with things like life insurance and many times wait until hard working people have made multiple payments before finding a reason to claim the customer is then no longer eligible for such experience. As for how one goes about deciding which career choice is most suitable, I would assume they take factors into account such as if the job/career makes the person happy, if the job/career pays well, distance, possibly a pension and factors of that sort.

My reasoning for wanting to pursue this is because I really enjoy helping little kids I actually helped in a daycare, that’s when I realized that I loved helping with little ones. I definitely wouldn’t want to pursue is in Engineering. I am clueless when it comes to cars or technology. I think one selects their career is when people are passionate about what might potentially be their career choice.

  23. My choice of career would be to get into the culinary arts field. idk, its something that always caught my eye, plus the fact that making someone happy by feeding them food is in a way helping them to me. I’ve always wanted to go to Spain or Italy for cooking…
The career I would not pursue would be politics or becoming a cop. As an open-minded person I do not believe in these two careers, we are all lied to by these top careers and what do we get in return? nothing but s#!@% , as time goes on this country or the world will be ran by police states, and we would all be screwed. I’m not one to screw someone over, ill be the one to fight for what’s ours…

2- Doctor: too many in my family and nervous of killing someone by mistake and I wouldn’t enjoy that job. Lawyer for defense/prosecutor: afraid someone would blame or try to kill me for not helping them get out of going to jail/me putting them in jail. I can’t tear families apart either.
3-You enjoy your career and you get good pay to survive in this society. $60,000-100,000, or more is good pay.

The reason why i want to become an entrepreneur is because i would love to own my own business and be my own boss. The career i would not want to pursue would be anything to do with social skills because i don’t like to talk to people about their problems and mines also. How people select their career is by picking something they like to do depending on their interest and activities.

◾What careers would you definitely NOT want to pursue? Psychology. Why? Psychology would be the one thing I wouldn’t study at all. It would take up to much study time.
◾How do you think one goes about selecting a career? Well I didn’t select a career I had to go thought something’s before I knew what type of career I what’d to get into. Why do you think that? Why do I think that a career takes as long as it should because some people may not have in their mine made up about a career. At time they need to think about one first. Careers are hard to think of at times their are about 150 different types of career to think about.
